░ Beauty Tutorial: New Year's Eve Look ░

2011 is right around the corner. This is my idea of a look that'll go perfectly with the New Year. In this tutorial, I did not use myself as the model but my sister, who gladly obliged even if I asked her to model for me at 11 o'clock in the evening for the filming. This is also the first time I used a model in my tutorial and I'm so glad it turned out alright. Only thing that went wrong was not being able to push the record button when we came to the lip coloring part. No worries, but it would've been the BEST part of the tutorial because my sister's got the fullest lips ever. Watch the video, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

The colors I picked out for the eyes looked beautiful together. I started out with highlighting using a sparkling snow E/S on the inner corners of the eyes, as well as the brow bone area. Next was applying a pale lilac E/S on the lids just to serve as a base. Now for something stronger and bolder, I applied a midnight blue E/S on the outer V, creating that shape I wanted to achieve. After that, I applied a sparkling purple E/S on the middle portion of the lids working my way out to the midnight blue E/S. After that, I applied an aquamarine E/S on the inner thirds of the eyes also working my way out to the rest of the eyes. If you watch the video, I added a second wing on the lower lash line to create that wonderful effect. The harmony of the colors is undeniable. I really loved the way it looked on my sister. I added criss cross lashes (which were given to me by Noe Mae Villagonzalo) on her and did a little contouring. A bright coral pink lip color completed the whole look.

I hope you enjoyed watching and consider wearing this look for New Year's Eve.
Happy 2011! Greet the New Year with a big bang!

░ Lip Swatches/ Makeup Haul: Revlon, Beauty Treats, Prestige, Maybelline, CoverGirl ░

Over the past couple of weeks, I've become obsessed with purchasing different lipsticks. I started buying one by one in a single purchase, and found myself buying three at a time after a while! I don't know what came over me, it's a sudden obsession I don't regret at all! My lipstick collection has grown larger because of this.

Let us start, remember to use the video and the photos as a reference to how the lipsticks actually look like in real life...
1. Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick "Angel Rose"- P209.00 (20% off); Watsons, SM Department Stores

2. Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick "BonBon Pink"- P209.00 (20% off); Watsons, SM Department Stores

3. Beauty Treats Lipstick "Pink Frost"- P141.75; Watsons, SM Department Stores

4. Beauty Treats Lipstick "Candy Plum"- P141.75; Watsons, SM Department Stores

5. Beauty Treats Lipstick "Baby Pink"- P141.75; Watsons, SM Department Stores

6. Prestige Color Treat Anti-Aging Lipstick "Pink Diamond"- P375.00; Beauty Bar

7. CoverGirl Continuous Color Lipstick "Parisian Pink"- P375.00; SM Department Stores

8. Revlon Matte Lipstick "Pink About It"- approximately P385.00 (with % off); Watsons, SM Department Stores

9. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick "Fire and Ice"- P360.00 (20% off); Watsons, SM Department Stores

Notes to consider:
*Beauty Treats Lipsticks have this sweet scent some of you may be bothered about. The scent isn't that bad, but for people who are very particular with scents on their lipsticks, I don't recommend this.
*Beauty Treats Lipstick in Pink Frost tends to create flakes on the lips. Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize the lips before using.
*Revlon Matte Lipstick "Pink About It" may be found a little bit drying by some people, so use lip balm prior to using it.

░ Beauty Tutorial: Pink Frost Christmas Look ░

"The only real blind person at Christmastime
is he who has not Christmas in his heart."
Helen Keller
A beauty tutorial inspired by the beautiful frosty season of Christmas--oh how I wish it snowed in the Philippines. I created a soft mauve-y look for the eyes starting out with a medium shade of mauve on the inner thirds of the lids and a deeper shade of mauve on the outer V area. I lined the eyes subtlety, tapering out the end thinly so as to maintain the softness of the look. Applying the same deep mauve shade on the lower lash line creates balance for the colors on the lids. Highlighting plays a vital role since it is in the highlighting that the high points of the eyes are emphasized. I used a snowy, sparkling shade of white as my highlight shade. I used mousse blush for the cheeks and a frosted pink lip color from Beauty Treats for the lips. The color is just lovely--far from all the typical lip colors you can find. I mainly did this tutorial for the lip color. I wanted to give the option of wearing light-colored lips inspired by the frosty Christmas season.

  • Marionnaud Foundation Brush

░ Beauty Tutorial: Black Swan Look ░

"The only person standing in your way is you." -Thomas Leroy, Black Swan
Before anything else, I made this tutorial not because Michelle Phan did it, but because I was inspired (just like the other makeup gurus all over the world) by the look of Natalie Portman in the movie Black Swan. The movie is not yet showing in the Philippines but I was able to gather the concept through photos from the internet. I hope this simple statement will avoid the "You copied who..." comments that have been pestering everyone else who has done the same tutorial just because Michelle Phan did one, too.
I have been hearing "Black Swan" buzzes from all over town, including my sister, but didn't know what it was about until I watched Miss Jessica Harlow's tutorial on it. After watching, I typed in and Google-d 'Black Swan' and discovered how much of a great movie it is. I am really looking forward to watching it in 2011.
I did a tutorial on this using the photo above (left) mainly as a reference. I tried my best to create subtle, feathery strokes and I can say that I am happy with the final outcome of the whole look.
I did not have a crown, but I had my sister's Jennifer Behr-Inspired headband to borrow and it looked great for the whole ensemble.
I did not, likewise, have a dress with feathery accents, but I did have the perfect strapless little black dress. This cancels out the thought of me being naked in the whole duration of the video (for all the people who think such).
A list of the products I used to achieve the Black Swan look:

  • Maybelline BB Cream (since it is very light for my skin tone)
  • Triangular Sponge (used to apply the BB cream on my face and neck)
  • Nichido Final Powder "So Natural" (this gave that perfect matte and non-cake-y finish)
  • Dollface Powder Brush (used to apply the loose powder)
  • Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Black (what I used for all the linings)
  • Dollface Eyeliner Brush (what I used for drawing all the lines and curves)
  • Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Silver Shade (what I used to fill in blank spots for the feathered eyes)
  • Beauty Treats Lipstick "Candy Plum" (the lipcolor I used)
  • Dollface Lip Brush (contoured my lips very well)
  • Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Black Shade (mixed with the plum lip color to achieve a deeper plum look)
  • The Body Shop Roseflower Blush (for that hint of blush on the hollows of the cheeks)
  • Nichido Eye Contour Pencil in Blackest Black (to line the rims of the eyes with)
Now for the photo roll...

░ Makeup Haul: Elianto & Revlon ░

December 18, (Saturday) was so far one of the most tiring days I ever had.
I'm just going to slip in a little "What Happened Today" segment in this entry.
Everything that happened before this (see: photo below) was taken.
At The French Baker having my German Sausage with Potato Salad
I woke up to find a very unkempt house (considering we are raising nine growing puppies, four large-sized dogs, and two small dogs.) They make life easier in terms of being cute and cuddly all the time, but not in terms of keeping a clean house! We live in a 3 bedroom apartment, and the dogs have outnumbered us! By the way, the puppies are going to be sold once they're strong enough. If anyone is interested please let me know. Email me at saytiocoartillero@gmail.com or simply leave a comment here.

So you see, I had to clean. Something inside me was screaming I had to clean the house and make it spotless clean! I know I've told you a couple of times how obsessive-compulsive I am when it comes to cleaning things and areas! I couldn't stand missing a spot and end up cleaning the place all over again starting from the littlest corner. So there I was, sweeping, mopping, wiping, spraying Lysol all over the house. (Life is not all glamorous, you know!) When I was done, I went ahead and gave baths to the six grown-up dogs.

After all the work, I took a refreshing shower. I wanted to be squeaky clean too, you know! It felt incredibly nice to see everything in order. The floor was shining! Lysol made everything smell germ-free! It was an accomplishment!

Again, a part of my being OC--I don't trust other people's way of cleaning. It's either they're too busy to do it so they rush to finish, or they don't want to do it at all. It takes passion to clean places. I believe I have that passion.

For maid services, text me at 0915-MAKEMEYOURMAID. (Just kidding, guys!)

I was gonna go to the mall with my sister and decided to put minimal makeup on, since I wasn't in the mood for anything too heavy.
  •  I applied no amount of foundation on my face. I opted to use powder foundation instead. It felt very lightweight and refreshing. I used my Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation in Sand Beige and my Nichido Kabuki Brush.
  • I did not redefine my brows since my bangs were going to cover them, anyway.
  • I used my newest SanSan Cosmetics Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black to create a subtle winged look for my eyes. (Bought the Eyeliner Pen for only P80.00, HBC)

  • I swept a little color on my cheeks using The Body Shop's Roseflower Blush
  • For the lips I used my newest Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Bonbon Pink given to me as a present by my blockmate, Francis Mendoza (Thanks, Francis!) The color was absolutely to die for! Lovely, lovely shade.

I went to purchase a few things for Noe, a fellow beauty blogger, since we agreed on sending each other gifts for the holidays. I got her pretty great makeup she could really use. I had it shipped all the way to Cebu and she'll probably receive the package by Tuesday.

My sight was bombarded by SALES and % off's! It was a joy to be in the middle of makeup counters. Here are some of the things I picked out especially for my own personal use:
1. Elianto Vibrant Shadow in 25 Midnight Blue - P50.00 (from 119.00)
2. Elianto Vibrant Shadow in 30 Ivory Black - P50.00 (from 119.00)

3. Revlon Matte Lipstick in "Pink About It" - P380.00 (from 400++)

The Elianto E/S are actually made to be fit into a quad which you can buy for only P109.00. I think I'll be buying that quad soon, and add two more E/S to fill it in with along with these two. I got myself the shade of Midnight Blue and Ivory Black. Perfect Smokey Eye shades, don't you think? Plus a million more looks you can create with them.
The Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink About It got me utterly speechless. I was swatching all the lipsticks on the counter trying to decide which to purchase. My sister was beside me and gave me her opinions about the lippies. She liked Fire and Ice very much, I agreed and told the saleslady I wanted it. She told me it was already out of stock. I had "Pink About It" as my second choice, so I went home happily with Pink About It.
We headed to get bread to take home from The French Baker after shopping. (Raisin Bonnets, Garlic Bread, and Cookies)
Now here's something to share on what my sister and I had for snacks at The French Baker...
Soup on a bread bowl: Chicken and Corn
Chicken Salad Croissant for my sister.

German Sausage with Potato Salad for myself.

Wanted to try gelato from Cafe Ti Amo but ended up ordering an Ice Blended beverage.
Cafe Ti Amo

"Finest Italian Gelato and Coffee..."
Cafe Ti Amo Mocha Ice Blended Coffee- Poco Short just to try...
My sister!
Hope you enjoyed reading even though this entry is quite long...
Happy Holidays!
