░ Beauty Tutorial: Keri Hilson Inspired Look ░

I promised myself I'd come up with a better and more challenging look to recreate today. I did not post a photo of this look with the reference photo side by side (like I usually do when I do looks inspired by celebrities) since people would quickly judge how different the looks are and immediately say that I did not recreate the look well. Multiple points are to be considered: my hair, my skin tone, my face shape, eye shape, and the E/S that I used, even. I've said it a million times, inspired looks are not the exact ones.
I really had fun doing this look. Given that it was freaking 35 degrees in Manila while I was filming. I was in an air conditioned room but still the heat was reaaaaally too much. I had to keep myself from sweating else ruin all my foundation work. If you've noticed, I've been skipping doing my brows, concealing and foundation in my tutorials. I just figured it would be great to get on to the look right away! Also, I have been trying to stick to tutorials less that 5 minutes long. I was watching my really old videos and I must day I'd give myself an F. So now I'm working for A's!
This photo of Keri Hilson totally caught my attention. She looks really sexy, fierce and daring! I love how she was holding a lipstick for a cigarette. I just had the strong urge to recreate the look after examining the photo well.
I basically wanted to focus on the extreme cat eye look that Keri is wearing in the photo. I tried to replicate the eye shadows but I know I did a pretty bad job; nevertheless I think I pulled the whole look together.

Products and procedures in order:
  1. Dollface Concealer #3 + Marionnaud Foundation Brush
  2. Nichido Foundation Stick in Beige
  3. Nichido Bronzer in Go Bronze (if you noticed, by body is kind of shimmering--it's because of this. Dusted it all on my chest, shoulders and arms using my Dollface Face Brush)
  4. Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation in Sand Beige (to set the foundation in)
  5. Maybelline BrowDefinist by EyeStudio (for the brows; wax+E/S)
  6. Nichido E/S in Electric Pink (first E/S on the lids)
  7. Nichido E/S in Seashell (second applied over the pink E/S)
  8. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Gold E/S on the outer V + Marionnaud Pointed E/S Brush
  9. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Gray E/S over the gold E/S
  10. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Silver E/S on the corners of the upper portion of the nose bridge (watch the video, you'll understand what I'm saying better in there OR look at Keri Hilson's photo)
  11. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Pearl Gold E/S swept from the inner corners of the eyes upward until the middle portion of the lids, sweep the color outward.
  12. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Gray E/S to use for creating the obvious cat eyes. Blend well with the crease color, sweep out for a subtle finish.
  13. Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner to create a solid cat eye, and to outline the whole shape of the eyes. Take your time in this one. Clean up using a Q-tip. Create a second wing on the lower lash line. Sweep out for a subtle effect.
  14. Shawill Faux Lashes (add full lashes on) + Lash Grip (glue)
  15. Curl and apply mascara (E.l.f. Mechanical Lash Curler and Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara)
  16. Contour your nosebridge (Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Brown E/S)
  17. Wet 'N Wild Bronzer in Princess 741A (to sculpt the cheeks and face)
  18. The Body Shop Roseflower Blush in 02 for the blush + Marionnaud Blush Brush
  19. Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Skin (first layer of lip color)
  20. Beauty Treats Lipstick in Pink Frost (second layer of lip color)

I had fun doing this pose (as a matter of fact you'll see more of this pose as you scroll down)  And just for your information, I don't smoke, so if my hand looks weird to you, just laugh it off.
Thanks to my wonderful sister, Iza for lending me the blue beaded necklace!

I have to work on blending much more through my hair line. (I know, I know.)
Blank, lifeless stares--I'll never get tired of. Gives photos such attitude and drama.

How the eyes look like when the lids are down.
The smoking pose...yet again.
Just a head's up, the Beauty Treats Lipstick in Pink Frost is still available for sale BUT with a different packaging already. I know the studs are lovable--and I don't understand why they changed it.
Any form of comment will be entertained. And I'm thanking everyone in advance for reading this entry and for submitting comments/feedbacks.
Please watch the video here, it will only take 5 minutes (or less) of your time.

░ Makeup Haul: Etude House + Wet 'N Wild ░

Little haul that I forgot to blog about. It was a random day and I didn't really plan on buying anything. And somehow I ended up with things to bring home. First stop at Etude House.
I got the following:
  1. Headband/wrap which costs PHP 98.00
  2. Eyebrow/face shaver which costs PHP 58.00
  3. Oh m'Eye Lash Double Up Volume Mascara which costs PHP 128.00

Second stop at the Department Store, Wet 'N Wild counter. They were having a sale on some items and I decided to get this shimmer bronzer in 741A Princess shade. Down to a fraction of the original price! Got it for PHP 254.00. They also had the matte kind, so take a pick! I'm not sure if they're still on sale, though. I bought these about a week or two ago.

A little swatch.

░ Beauty Tutorial: Julia Montes Inspired Look ░

I just thought it would be fun to surprise everyone with this tutorial (particularly Filipino-viewers). I've been receiving constant "You look like Clara from Mara Clara!" comments and I actually never knew who Julia Montes was, then. I consulted Google and I can't really see any similarity! Do you? Either way, Julia is a promising actress, beautiful and talented! Her features are really lovely. I'm not a fan of Mara Clara but I definitely think Julia Montes is worth doing a tutorial on.
The photo of Julia above was the largest I could find via Google, so pardon it if it's a bit blurry. I tried my best to pose like her--and I must say...not my best angle.
Julia's look is really neutral and simple (in the photo above). The tutorial video will only take 3 minutes tops, I promise!

Products I used:
  1. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette (brown and black E/S) for eyes and contouring
  2. E.l.f. Mechanical Lash Curler
  3. Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara
  4. Nichido Mousse Blush in Mocha Souffle
  5. Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in SKIN
Other products I used:
  1. Nichido Foundation Stick in Beige
  2. Dollface Concealer #3
  3. Maybelline BrowDefinist by Eyestudio
  4. Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation
  5. FS 2-Way Cake in Orleans
I'd recommend this look for everyday! Looks really natural and fresh.
Now, for more photos...
Up Close

And then I tried tying my hair...

░ How-to/Beauty Tutorial: Draw On Lashes + Simple Makeup ░

I decided to film something different today. This entry is all about drawing on lashes. Yes, you read that right! Drawing on your lashes. Before proceeding to the "Drawing On The Lashes" part, I created a simple makeup look that you can totally wear anytime.
  1. Apply white E/S all over your lids not going past the crease (Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette)
  2. Apply mauve E/S on the outer V (use a pointed eyeshadow brush-Marionnaud Pointed E/S Brush + Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette)
  3. Apply a black E/S to darken the crease area; do not touch the center of the lids. (Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette)
  4. Apply bronzer to sculpt the cheeks (Wet N Wild Bronzer 741A Princess + Marionnaud Blush Brush)
  5. Apply blush (The Body Shop Roseflower Blush 02)
  6. Apply a pink lip color (CoverGirl Lipstick in Parisian Pink) *such a lovely shade*
This gradient look on the eyes will totally make you look simple but beautiful.

Face products:
Dollface Cosmetics Concealer #3
Nichido Stick Foundation in Beige
Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation
FS Two Way Cake in Orleans
ABOUT DRAWING THE LASHES...
Now to add an oomph to the simple look we created above, we will work on our lashes. We can always opt to pack on our mascara for that beautiful volumized look (but some people do not like clumping on their lashes).  We may also opt for false lashes, but if in case you don't have any faux lashes on hand and you still want that dramatic effect on your lashes, you might as well draw them on.
What you will need are just two things:
  1. A good angled brush (I used Dollface Cosmetics' Angled Brush)
  2. A pigmented black eyeshadow (I used MAC's Beauty Marked E/S)
Here are the simple steps to draw on your lashes:
  1. Pack on the E/S on your lashline
  2. Create a normal wing
  3. Draw a longer wing beneath the normal wing, extend it sloping upwards
  4. Draw a shorter wing above the normal wing
  5. Get rid of harsh edges by lightly sweeping the E/S outward using your fingers
  6. Line your waterline with the same E/S, stop halfway
  7. APPLY A VOLUMIZING/LENGTHENING MASCARA (I used Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara)

░ Beauty Tutorial: Jessie J Inspired Look ░

This is a tutorial inspired from the look of Jessie J--one of my most favorite singers at the moment. Her songs are absolutely amazing! ♫ Here is a quick list of my favorites, you should totally listen to these:
  • Price Tag
  • Nobody's Perfect
  • Who You Are
  • Do It Like A Dude
  • Casualty of Love
  • Big White Room
I was initially going for her look in the Price Tag music video but then I figured I couldn't because I don't own any black lip color! So I ran to Mr. Google and I found this photo (see: above, right) I know it would've been much more convincing if I had full bangs on as well, but I've said it before and I'll say it again, "an inspired look is not the exact look".

Products that I used are as follows (in order):
  1. Ever Bilena E/S in Shamrock (on the lids)
  2. Dollface 88 Earth Color Pallete Gunmetal Green Shimmery E/S (over the green E/S; dab on)
  3. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Gray E/S (outer V)
  4. Dollface 88 Earth Color Palette Black E/S (to darken the crease area)
  5. #2 and #3 E/S mixed together, applied on the lower lashline
  6. Nichido GNO Eye Pencil in Blackest Black (line the lower and upper waterline)
  7. False Lashes + Lash Grip (lash glue)
  8. E.l.f. Mechanical Lash Curler
  9. Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto Mascara
  10. Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Off Beat Pink
  11. Nichido Cream Blush in Pink Champagne (dab on)
  12. The Body Shop Roseflower Blush 02 (to set the cream blush)
  13. Nichido Final Powder in Go Bronze (this is a great product to add shimmer to the body/face) See photo:

Products I used for my face:
  1. Foundation: Nichido Foundation Stick in Beige
  2. Concealer: Dollface Concealer in #3
  3. Powder: Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Powder Foundation and FS Two Way Cake in Orleans
  4. Brows: Maybelline BrowDefinist by EyeStudio
