Here is an in-depth blog entry about the Bubble Hair Coloring from Etude House that I promised to post up today. I was invited by Char, the owner of ShopSui and Skin Hour to the opening party of Etude House at SM Megamall last May 2, 2011 (event to be blogged soon) and I was able to pick up quite a few Etude House products, one of which is this famous Bubble Hair Coloring kits.
I first knew about this from my sister. The whole idea of having a DIY hair coloring kit with only using a mousse-like product, or as they say "bubbles"/suds seemed so surreal to me and I must admit it got me curious. Since the usual DIY coloring kits require a lot of blah blah's.
I have never actually colored my own hair before. I always have it done professionally at salons. I got my hair colored twice before (colored but never rebonded, whatsoever). I was always too scared to do it myself since the whole idea of messing up is just scary, so I leave all the trouble to the hands of my hairdressers.
I was surprised to see a whole shelf full of it at the opening party and I felt like I had to buy and try it out for myself. A box only costs PHP 378.00 (online shops sell it for 650-900 pesos) and I got two (2) boxes for myself since according to the Korean representative that I spoke to that time, one bottle wouldn't be able to cover my whole hair--which is actually quite very FALSE.
I have past-waist length hair and one (1) bottle actually sufficed. I'm glad I didn't combine to contents of the two bottles together (it was my initial plan since the bottle seemed to contain only a little amount of product in it).
Now, let us go through the process of easily coloring your hair using the Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring Kit... (this will be a bit photo-heavy and text heavy as well)
Upon opening the box, you would be seeing the following: (refer to photo above)
1. Pump container
2. Instruction manual (which is not helpful at all [except for the photos] since all the characters are in Korean)
3. Silky Perfumed Treatment
4. Gloves and plastic cape
5. Bubble Hair Color Sachet
To open the tip of the sachet, just twist the cap.
This bottle contains about 1/4 liquid product
(which is not water)
The photos are the only helpful information in this manual (helpful yet insufficient)
This Silky Perfumed Treatment absolutely smells heavenly! Acts as a conditioner after the hair coloring.
This pack contains a pair of protective hand gloves and a plastic cape (that you wear around your neck)
Let's start coloring! But first...
1. Wear the plastic cape over your shoulder.
2. Wear the gloves.
So you're gonna look something like...
This!
Now we move on to the mixing...
1. Dispense off the product from the sachet into the bottle.
2. DO NOT SHAKE the bottle. Simply TILT IT FROM SIDE TO SIDE until the product is fully mixed.3. Pump the bottle 2-3 times and a mousse/suds/bubbles will come out.
4. Start applying the bubbles/suds on your hair. Start on top, spread the bubbles/mousse evenly.
Continue applying until your whole hair is covered with the bubbles/suds.
*I did not feel any tingling sensation whatsoever upon application of the bubbles.*
Pull your hair upward and stroke/comb through your hair for the suds to be able to seep in.5. Leave on for a good 30 minutes. NO NEED TO COVER YOUR HEAD WITH A SHOWER CAP.
6. After 30 minutes, wash your hair with shampoo7. Apply the Silky Perfumed Treatment (as conditioner) and rinse once again
8. Towel-dry and blow-dry your hair
9. Style as you like
10. And voila...
Now let's do a comparison...
Before and after photos always convince.
So I mentioned how I had my hair colored twice before, and the second one kind of reached half of my hair and the roots are all black as you can see.
Bubble Hair Coloring totally covered ALL my hair--from roots to ends!
(Comparison: look down below!)
All in all, the Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring kit gets 10 stars from me! ★★★★★★★★★★
I actually recommend this to EVERYONE WHO IS READING MY BLOG RIGHT NOW. I usually pay PHP 2,000 just to get my hair colored by professionals, but who would've thought that you could COLOR YOUR OWN HAIR (w/o having to worry about harsh chemicals harming your scalp or skin) for only PHP 378.00!
By the way, this shade is 3 Natural Brown, I wasn't able to take note of the other shades, but I saw Dark Brown and Wine.
Drop by the nearest Etude House branch and grab your own box now!
Hope this in-depth review helps, girls (and boys).
