Cheryl Cole Inspired Makeup Look

Who wouldn’t be mesmerized by Cheryl Cole’s beauty and grace?HPIM4036prev-tileHer face is one of the most beautiful faces I’ve seen on TV. This is a tutorial on how to easily replicate one of her looks. Read on to find out!

Again, concealing, foundation, and brow routines are not included in the video due to time constraint.

  1. Take any bronze eyeshadow and apply this all over your lids. Blend out as you move upward. Use a pointed eyeshadow brush to get into the crease area. (LuLu Makeup Manhattan Palette + Marionnaud N37 Pointed Eye Brush)
  2. Apply the same bronze eyeshadow on the lower lashline as well.
  3. Use any highlight color and highlight the inner corners of the eyes and the brow bone.
  4. Take a black eye pencil and line your upper & lower lashline. Tightline your upper waterline next. This is basically outlining the shape of your eyes. (Nichido GNO in Blackest Black)
  5. Curl your lashes and apply generous volumes of mascara. Cheryl Cole’s looks are always marked with voluminous lashes! (Elf Lash Curler + Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara)
  6. Apply two layers of full lashes on. Let dry.
  7. Now take 1-2 layers of demi lashes (half lashes) and apply on the outer corners of the lashline. This will fully open your eyes up and make them look like Cheryl Cole’s!
  8. Apply a coral lip color on the lips. (Palladio Coral Punch)
  9. Take a bronzer, and contour your face. (Fanny Serrano Two-Way Cake in Rajah)
  10. Lastly, apply blush on the cheeks. (The Body Shop Roseflower Blush)

That’s it! 10 easy steps to recreate Cheryl Cole’s amazing look.

Ask Say Week 8 Answers Blogged

HPIM3925eDue to time constraint, I was not able to go in-depth into answering some of the questions for Ask Say Week 8 so here are the answers—blogged! Watch the rest of my answers in the video embedded at the end of this post.

1. From: Bing Castro (I’m sooooo sorry I left your Q out!) “What eye primer do you use and what do you think is the best one to use? :)”

A: I use Elf’s Eye Primer & the L’Oreal Base Magique Primer. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is pretty famous, but I have not tried it yet.

2. From: Nadj “Hi Say! Paano ba malalamn ang perfect shade ng foundation? My test or kelangan bang gwin para mlaman mo na un na ang shade mo? :)”

A: Hi Nadj! So I will give you an excerpt from Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual:

  • make sure that the foundation is yellow-based; pink based foundations look like a mask on most people
  • test several shades on the side of your face, between the nose and the side of the cheek
  • test a shade lighter and a shade darker for comparison—the correct shade will disappear
  • the foundation shade that matches the forehead will work better for the whole face
  • always test the foundation in a natural light—(open window)
  • do not test on the hand because the face is rarely the same color as the rest of the body
  • oily skin sometimes turns foundation darker—so check and adjust accordingly

-------bulleted text from Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual----------

3. From: Nicole Rivera “hi dear! ITS ME AGAIN :)) as a starting makeup artist, what are those products that i have to invest in??? thanks a lot and i really love you :)) ♥”

A:  Hi Nicole, here are some more products you would like to invest in:

  • eye shadow palettes
  • lip palettes
  • at least 15 shades of foundation
  • at least 10 shades of concealer
  • makeup brushes
  • primer
  • tools (i.e. tweezers, lash curler, tissues, disposable wands…etc)

Okay, ladies so those are the 3 Q’s I failed to mention due to time constraint. Watch the video here for the other answers!

Michelle Phan Inspired Look

HPIM3918eeeWhoever said Halloween is only for gore-ish, bloody, scary characters? You can definitely dress up as your favorite anything! I’ve been getting requests on doing a tutorial inspired by Michelle Phan… So here it is!img_7121_michelle-phan-lookMichelle Phan, as we all know, always channels this fresh & radiant look. From the numerous makeup looks she taught the world, I drew inspiration from her look in this video that Promise made for her a couple of months back. I just basically followed what Promise did sans contouring around the eye area.

As usual, I skipped the concealing, foundation, and brow routine in the video to save time. Although I promise to put up an updated version of those three for the sake of those who still want to watch the process.

Products I used for the face & brows:

  1. The LuLu Makeup Concealer in Light
  2. Revlon PhotoReady Makeup in Medium Beige
  3. Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Cake Powder in 04 Honey
  4. Easy Brow Pencil in #1 from Etude House

Now here are the steps to achieve an ala-Michelle Phan look:

  1. Take any brownish mauve eyeshadow and apply this on the crease area. This will give more depth to your eyes. *Nichido Stardust Palette in Totally Neutral*
  2. Take any highlight color and highlight the brow bone. *ELF Smoky Eye Quad (white)*
  3. Load up your brush with white+silver eyeshadow and apply on the bare area on the lids. *ELF Smoky Eye Quad (white & silver)*
  4. Line your lower waterline with white eye pencil. *NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk*
  5. Line your eyes using a liquid or gel liner. Create a subtle tail. *Fanny Serrano Long Wear Gel Liner in Black*
  6. Curl your lashes & apply mascara on top & bottom lashes. *ELF Mechanical Lash Curler + Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara in Black*
  7. Apply demi lashes (half lashes).
  8. Contour nose bridge. *Fanny Serrano 2-Way Cake in Rajah*
  9. Apply blush. *The Body Shop Roseflower Blush*
  10. Apply a red lip color & blend. *CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipstick in Hot Passion*

There you have it, ladies. Those are the 10 simple steps on how to achieve that radiant Michelle Phan look.

Photoshoot at Rouge Studio with Mark Bradford

DSC07356October 22, 2011—Had a photoshoot at Rouge Studio with my sisters and my sister friends. The photographer was my sister’s friend’s brother, Mark Bradford.

Despite the limited space at Rouge Studio, I loved my work station. It was a misfortune for me to have left all my makeup brushes at home, and I had to use what was available—that time, Q-tips! More commonly known as cotton buds.

I gave my sister, Iza, a classic smoky eye look and soft pink lips. The Q-tips made it easier to smudge all the color out. I used MAC’s Beauty Marked E/S and a couple of black eyeliner to achieve the look. I used NYX Tea Rose for her lip color.DSC07312DSC07315DSC07320

Here are some of the awesome shots of Mark Bradford:

I gave her eyes a pop of color by lining the inner rims with a bright purple liner. I kept everything else neat and simple.321687_2144993625901_1278086603_31981030_1529199936_nDSC07376DSC07375

Hair & Makeup Gig: Usana Event

DSC07263October 21, 2011—I woke up at 4:00AM for a hair and makeup gig @ Makati. These lovely ladies attended a company event and basically wore white dresses with accents of gold and silver. I gave them polished looks with necessary highlighting & contouring and worked on the eyes using neutrals with a little hint of color. For the hair, I gave Anj a classic side bun with wrapped curls, and wavy curls for the rest of the ladies.

Thank you so much, Melissa, for contacting me! I had a lot of fun with you girls.

P.S. Posting photos from the event soon.DSC07257DSC07258DSC07260DSC07261

Latest Purchase: Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

DSC07156I was going to get this book on Christmas, but I just couldn’t resist buying it when I saw it at National Bookstore in Glorietta. Priced at PHP 735.00, I think this is the best investment that I’ve ever done. I’m no way near halfway of the book, and I must say I am learning a lot. You may opt to buy the hardbound edition which is priced at PHP 1,000+, but I decided to get the softbound one since there’s not really an difference in the content.

This is definitely not my last purchase when it comes to makeup books. There’s a lot to learn, and a lot of books in the market. I’m getting Jemma Kidd next!

So, for all aspiring makeup artists out there—this book is made for everyone. It’s completely amazois.

Grab your copy now!
