Ask Say Week 8 Answers Blogged

Due to time constraint, I was not able to go in-depth into answering some of the questions for Ask Say Week 8 so here are the answers—blogged! Watch the rest of my answers in the video embedded at the end of this post.

1. From: Bing Castro (I’m sooooo sorry I left your Q out!) “What eye primer do you use and what do you think is the best one to use? :)”

A: I use Elf’s Eye Primer & the L’Oreal Base Magique Primer. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is pretty famous, but I have not tried it yet.

2. From: Nadj “Hi Say! Paano ba malalamn ang perfect shade ng foundation? My test or kelangan bang gwin para mlaman mo na un na ang shade mo? :)”

A: Hi Nadj! So I will give you an excerpt from Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual:

• make sure that the foundation is yellow-based; pink based foundations look like a mask on most people
• test several shades on the side of your face, between the nose and the side of the cheek
• test a shade lighter and a shade darker for comparison—the correct shade will disappear
• the foundation shade that matches the forehead will work better for the whole face
• always test the foundation in a natural light—(open window)
• do not test on the hand because the face is rarely the same color as the rest of the body
• oily skin sometimes turns foundation darker—so check and adjust accordingly

3. From: Nicole Rivera “hi dear! ITS ME AGAIN :)) as a starting makeup artist, what are those products that i have to invest in??? thanks a lot and i really love you :)) ♥”

A:  Hi Nicole, here are some more products you would like to invest in:

• eye shadow palettes
• lip palettes
• at least 15 shades of foundation
• at least 10 shades of concealer
• makeup brushes
• primer
• tools (i.e. tweezers, lash curler, tissues, disposable wands…etc)
